BJP demands early polls in Karnataka PDF Print E-mail

Bangalore, March 16: The BJP on Saturday staged a protest demanding that assembly elections in Karnataka be held before May and for implementation of pension scheme for senior citizens.

 

The protesters led by former Chief Minsiter B S Yeddyurappa, party's National General Secretary Ananthkumar and others criticisesd Governor Rameshwar Thakur for not implementing Sandhya Suraksha old age pensions scheme and delay in distribution of ration cards to BPL families.

They also charged that several pro-poor and pro-people programmes announced by Yeddyurappa as Finance Minister in his budget had not been implemented.

As BJP chose Hudson circle one of the arterial roads in the city for its protest, traffic was choked for few hours.

The Congress also held a demonstration near Town Hall, another busy traffic junction to protest against BJP for accusing the party of trying to postpone assembly elections in Karnataka.
