Mangalore, Feb 20: Ganesh of Mungaru Male fame and wife Shilpa had an hectic Tuesday as they performed pujas and homas at the Veerabhadra Temple in Barkur near Brahmavar. 

Though the couple and their family arrived as late as 10 pm on Monday, they were busy attending the Outana Koota (wedding reception) organized by relatives of the bride’s father which went past midnight. Though media persons were denied entry to the venue by relatives of Shivaram Shettigar, Shilpa’s father, Ganesh did not disappoint them as he talked for a few minutes to the waiting TV crew and reporters.

On Tuesday, Chandika homa and Durga homa were specially arranged for Ganesh and Shilpa at the Veerabhadra Temple.

The puja and homa were performed as a penance for not getting married in the temple, according to sources close to Shilpa’s family. The duo tied the knot in Bangalore.

Tuesday is a special day at the temple, which celebrates Dekke Bali and Genda Seva, an annual ritual. Ganesh and Shilpa felt it was quite auspicious to be present on this day at Barkur temple along with hundreds of devotees.
